In a significant expansion of its educational outreach, Apple has unveiled its fourth Developer Academy in Indonesia, situated in the picturesque island of Bali. This new academy is set to open doors to aspiring coders from around the world, offering a nine-month program that covers a wide array of skills needed to develop successful apps—from coding to marketing.

Since launching its first academy in Jakarta in 2018, Apple has opened additional locations in Surabaya and Batam, demonstrating a robust commitment to fostering the tech community in Indonesia. To date, the program has graduated over 2,000 students, with an impressive 90% finding what Apple describes as "meaningful employment" post-graduation.

Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, emphasized the transformative power of technology, stating, "We've seen many times over that a line of code can change the world. In Indonesia, we're investing in the creativity and skills of people determined to prove it."

The Bali academy is poised to be a global hub for tech education, welcoming students from across the globe, irrespective of their prior educational background or coding experience. This inclusive approach has already seen a diverse range of participants from over 90 Indonesian cities.

Among the notable alumni is Mary Santoso, a 38-year-old stay-at-home mom who joined the academy in 2022. With the skills she acquired, Santoso developed WonderJack, a neurodiverse-friendly iPad game designed to assist children with learning challenges like those faced by her own daughter. "The guidance from mentors helped us hone our problem-solving skills and equipped us with the tools to build WonderJack, an app that aims to unlock the potential of all children," she shared.

This initiative is also part of Apple's broader Racial Equity and Justice Initiative, which underscores the company's commitment to diversity and inclusion within the tech industry.
